Oswald Seitter

Oswald Seitter (born July 10, 1936 in Kleinaspach, today Aspach , Rems-Murr-Kreis , † February 12, 2010 ) was a German lawyer and legal advisor. From 1984 to 1996 he was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

Life and work

Seitter studied after school law . At the end of his studies he obtained a doctorate in Dr. jur. and then worked as a lawyer and legal advisor. One of his priorities was restaurant law, on which he published a book in 1979.

Church engagement

From a young age, Seitter was a volunteer in the local parish. He was a youth group leader, a member of the local YMCA board and district leader of the Evangelical Youth Office . From 1971 to 1990 he was deputy chairman of the Ludwig Hofacker circle. He was also active in the regional brotherhood of the Old Pietist Community and in the Liebenzeller Mission . In addition, he was involved with the White Cross , the Paulinenpflege Winnenden and the Association of Swabian after-work homes.

In 1966 Seitter was elected to the synod of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg for the first time, of which he was a member until 1995. The 7th regional synod elected him secretary in 1966. In the 8th and 9th Regional Synod he was a member of the Standing Committee of the Regional Synod and was also the deputy chairman of two other committees. Since 1984, the 10th Regional Synod elected its President, successor to Martin Holland . Seitter was also confirmed in his office as president in the 11th regional synod in 1990. At the end of the legislative period, however, Seitter decided not to run again. Dorothee Jetter was his successor in 1996 . From 1969, Seitter also belonged to the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany for several years . He died completely unexpectedly on February 12, 2010.
