Otakar Brousek (Senior)
Otakar Brousek (born September 28, 1924 in Krhanice , Czechoslovakia , † March 14, 2014 in Prague , Czech Republic ) was a Czech actor and voice actor .
biography
As a child, Otakar Brousek played the violin, theater and was interested in literature and art. Against his parents' wishes to study medicine, Brousek wanted to study drama at the Prague Conservatory . But because of the Second World War and his military service, he was denied. After the war he began to play at the Kladno Theater . From 1946 he played Národní divadlo in the Prague National Theater . From 1959 to 1990 he finally played regularly in the Divadlo na Vinohradech .
Parallel to his theater career, Brousek played regularly in Czech films . Since his debut in the historical drama Spring Storms , which was published in 1949 and directed by Václav Krska , he has starred in over 60 Czech productions, several French films, including The Triple Locke and Dreyfus Affair, and a German television film, the literary adaptation The Holy Whore . He also worked as a voice actor and spoke, for example, in the Czech version of the Harry Potter film series Albus Dumbledore.
His first wife, Luka Rubaničová, was a dancer at the Prague National Theater. With her he had two children, the actors Otakar Brousek and Jaroslava Brousková . His grandson is the actor and composer Ondřej Brousek .
