Otakar Theer (born February 16, 1880 in Chernivtsi , Bukovina , † December 20, 1917 in Prague ) was a Czech poet, writer, dramaturge and translator. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Otto Gulon, G. Rallan and Sézam.

Life

Otakar Theer began writing short stories while he was still in high school. After graduating from high school, he studied at the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague , but switched to the Faculty of Philosophy during his studies. From 1902 to 1903 he studied at the Sorbonne . In 1906 he took up the post of clerk at the University Library in Prague .

He worked with the magazines Lumír and Literární listy . His works are influenced by symbolism , mostly describe women and love and often contain erotic motifs. He also translated books by French and English authors.
