Otatara is a former city in what is now Invercargill City on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The city, which is now a district of Invercargill , is located about 4 km southwest of the city center of Invercargill and about 8 km north-northeast of the confluence of the New River Estuary in the Foveaux Strait . To the west of Otatara , the Oreti River flows south and flows south of the district into the New River Estuary .
Invercargill Airport is located between Otatara and Invercargill city center .

Environmental commitment
In Otatara in 1999 by conservationists, the Otatara Landcare Group founded with the objective for Environment and Nature in Otatara , New River Estuary , Sandy Point and Oreti Beach use.
