Otha Jones (* 6. February 2000 in Toledo , Ohio , USA ) is an American boxer in the lightweight . In January 2019 he signed a contract with Matchroom Boxing USA , the Boxpromotionfirma of Eddie Hearn .
He is trained by his father and brother.
Jones started boxing at the age of eight. He is considered a successful amateur and has won numerous important national and international tournaments. Out of 300 fights he won 280. Jones was among other things two times American champion. At the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires , he finished fifth out of six starters in his weight class.
Professional career
Jones made his professional debut on March 9, 2019 with a unanimous six-round points win over Giorgi Gelashvili at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona , New York . It was broadcast live in the US by DAZN and in the UK by Sky Sports .
