Othmar Schlegel
Othmar Schlegel (* 1951 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss chef .
Life
Schlegel comes from a cooking dynasty, his father Otto Schlegel (1920–2017) and his uncle Ernesto Schlegel (1923–1997) were chefs in first-class Swiss establishments. In 1968 Othmar Schlegel began his apprenticeship at the Dolder Grand Hotel in Zurich . He then cooked at the Palace Luzern , the Dorchester in London and Maxim’s in Paris. In 1978 he became head chef at the Carlton in St. Moritz .
In 1987 he became head chef at the Locanda Barbarossa restaurant in the Hotel Castello del Sole in Ascona , where he stayed for 29 years until his retirement. His restaurant was awarded a Michelin star and 18 Gault Millau points . He retired in 2016.
