Otis Bardwell Boise

Otis Bardwell Boise (born August 13, 1844 in Oberlin , Ohio , † December 2, 1912 in Baltimore , Maryland ) was an American composer.

As early as 1858, Boise was working as an organist in Cleveland . From 1861 he studied in Leipzig with Ignaz Moscheles , Ernst Friedrich Richter and Moritz Hauptmann . He briefly taught at Theodor Kullak's academy in Berlin . From 1865 to 1870 he was organist and music teacher in Cleveland, then teacher at the Conservatory and organist of the Presbyterian Church in New York City .

After further studies with Franz Liszt, he worked as a teacher of music theory in Berlin from 1888 to 1901 and was then composition and theory teacher in Baltimore.

Boise composed a symphony , two overtures , a piano concerto, choirs and songs . His works are strongly influenced by Liszt.
