Ottaviano Nonni

Ottaviano Nonni , also Ottavio de 'Nonni , also known as Il Mascarino (detto Mascherino) (* 1536 in Bologna ; † August 6, 1606 in Rome ) was an Italian architect of the 16th century as well as a sculptor and painter.

He was a student of Giacomo Barozzi da Vignola and initially worked in the Emilia region . He later moved to Rome and lived in the Roman quarter of Borgo , where he was named after the Via del Mascherino .

Pope Gregory XIII commissioned him with several buildings, including the Quirinal Palace (1583), San Salvatore in Lauro (1594), Santa Maria in Traspontina , the Bandini Chapel in San Silvestro al Quirinale and the Hospice Santo Spirito in Sassia and many other buildings.
