Ottengrün is located in the municipality of Bad Neualbenreuth in the Tirschenreuth district in Upper Palatinate , southwest of the market town of Bad Neualbenreuth.

Ottengrün was first mentioned in a document in 1392 as the property of the Waldsassen monastery and, under changing owners, it belonged to the Frais' special jurisdiction as an estate and administrative seat of some of the surrounding towns . Nearby are the GC Stiftland GmbH golf course and the St. Sebastian pilgrimage church, the Kleine Kappl , which was built after 1725 after the old chapel that had previously been there was torn down. One of the sights is the Ottengrün Castle . On July 1, 1972, Ottengrün was incorporated into the Bad Neualbenreuth market.
