Ottilie Bayer (born September 24, 1848 in Erlangen , † August 19, 1913 in Schweinfurt ) was a German writer .

Life

She was born in 1848 as the youngest daughter of high school professor Karl Bayer († 1883). She received her training first from 1857 in Hof and from 1862 in Schweinfurt. She suffered from neuroses at an early age . Her left hand was crippled from a burn, but she turned to writing in 1894 regardless. At the time she was living alone in Schweinfurt because her siblings and parents had already died. Bayer died in Schweinfurt in 1913.

She wrote works influenced by Christianity: In addition to non-fiction books in the field of nursing and hygiene, she also wrote works of fiction for young people and popular books. Smaller publications were mostly issued by Christian associations and societies, for example the main association for Christian edification writings and the Christian art publisher of Ernst Kaufmann in Constance . Some of her works also appeared in magazines; Stories like Die Holzhauersfamilie or Die Macht der Liebe were reprinted well into the 1930s.
