Otto Boyer (born June 21, 1874 in Ückendorf near Gelsenkirchen , † December 30, 1912 in Jena ) was a German painter and writer.

Life

Otto Boyer, son of the engineer Otto Boyer, studied after graduating from grammar school from 1894 to 1902 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , first in the elementary class of Heinrich Lauenstein and later as a master student of Eduard von Gebhardt . Study trips took Boyer to the Mediterranean region and the Middle East, especially the Caucasus. In 1906 Boyer took part in the National Art Exhibition in Madrid and received the Order of Alfonso XII.

Otto Boyer was a member of the Düsseldorfer Künstlerverein Malkasten , the Freie Vereinigung Düsseldorfer Künstler and took part in the artistic-literary regulars' Rosenkranzchen , which existed from 1909 to 1911 in the wine bar of the same name in the old town . In Düsseldorf-Oberkassel he last lived in the property at Wildenbruchstrasse 94, left his house to the painter Adolf Münzer , and moved to Weimar in a house of the sculptor Hugo Lange. In Weimar he had joined the Literary Society.

Otto Boyer, only 38 years old, died in Jena and was cremated and buried in the local crematorium. His friend Wilhelm Hegeler gave the memorial speech . The German Schiller Foundation represented the chairman Oskar Bulle u. a. present.
