Otto Dahlem (fruit grower)

Otto Dahlem (born February 16, 1872 in Ibersheim ; † July 28, 1931 there ) was a German fruit grower and purveyor to the court of Ernst Ludwig (Hesse-Darmstadt) in Darmstadt.

Life

Dahlem was born to Jakob Dahlem (1838-1887) and Magdalena, née Forrer (1843-1943). He was married to Anna Margarethe Heyl (1874–1960). The marriage remained childless.

Around 1900 Dahlem built a trellis fruit orchard with approx. 2200 trees, mainly with the varieties Baumanns Renette , Goldparmäne , Luikenapfel , Weißer Winter-Calville .

With his dessert fruit he was purveyor to the court of the last Hessian Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse .
