Otto Deppe

Otto Deppe is a German journalist and television presenter . He was also the author and director of documentaries for ARD and Arte .

Career

Otto Deppe did a bank apprenticeship after graduating from high school. He then began studying business administration at the Technical University of Hanover , the Saarland University and the State University of Iowa (USA), he at the University of Saarland as a business graduate graduated. While still a student, he began to get enthusiastic about radio.

In 1963 he became a freelance journalist at Saarland Broadcasting , which at the time had only just been accepted into ARD and was still in the process of being established. Between 1969 and 1972 Deppe was used as an ARD radio reporter for reporting on the US space program . In 1969 he reported live from the Apollo 11 moon landing on SR 1 Europawelle . From 1973 to 1978 he was a senior editor at Saarländischer Rundfunk. From 1975 to 1995 he was the presenter of various current radio programs on the Europawelle, in 1982/83 he was also the presenter of the ARD Tagesthemen and from 1978 to 2002 he was the presenter of the evening magazine Current Report of the Saarländischer Rundfunk. In the mid-1980s he also moderated with Elke Herrmann , Norbert Klein and Jörg Gehlen in the evening program of Südwestfunk . Between 1989 and 2000 he moderated the ARD business magazine Plusminus , and from 1992 to 2002 the ARD travel guide . In addition, from 1975 to 2002 he was chief television reporter for Saarland Radio.

From 1978 to 1994 Deppe worked as the deputy head of economics, radio / television at Saarländischer Rundfunk, and from 1994 to 2002 as head of society at Saarländischer Rundfunk. Since July 2002 he has been a freelance journalist and media trainer.
