Otto Ernst Krasney

Otto Ernst Krasney (born December 16, 1932 in Prague ) is a German lawyer and former Vice President of the Federal Social Court .

Life

His professional career began in 1961 at the Detmold Social Court . After a secondment as a research assistant to the Federal Social Court and a job as a judge at the Regional Social Court of North Rhine-Westphalia , he came to the Federal Social Court as a judge in 1971. In 1980 he became chairman of the 2nd Senate, which is responsible for accident insurance. In 1988 he became Vice President of the Federal Social Court. At the end of 1997 he retired.

In addition to his judicial work, Krasney also worked as a scientist. As early as 1967 he received a teaching position for social law at the Ruhr University in Bochum , which was followed by a similar position at the Kassel University . In 1979 he became an honorary professor there, and in 1991 he was appointed to the Justus Liebig University in Giessen.

After the ICE accident in Eschede (1998), Krasney was appointed ombudsman for the victims and survivors of railway accidents by Deutsche Bahn AG . His successor in this office on February 1, 2008 was Udo Steiner .

He also published numerous works.
