Otto Garhofer (born June 20, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player.

Career

Otto Garhofer played soccer in the Swabian amateur area at the Leonberger district club TSV Höfingen and in 1964 switched to the Stuttgarter Kickers , who played in the second-rate Regionalliga Süd . The offensive player made his debut on August 9, 1964 in a 2-0 home win against Freiburg FC in the Regionalliga. Kickers coach Hans Eberle had Garhofer compete in the storm center. On the sixth round match day, September 2nd, the Kickers met the later superior champions and Bundesliga promoted FC Bayern Munich. The Munich team won the home game 2-0 and Garhofer and colleagues got to know the class of Sepp Maier , Adolf Kunstwadl , Peter Kupferschmidt , Werner Olk , Karl-Heinz Borutta , Rudolf Nafziger , Franz Beckenbauer and Rainer Ohlhauser . In the home game against Bayern, which was lost 6-1, Garhofer did not play. At the end of the round, the newcomer from Höfingen had scored four goals in 18 league appearances at the side of players such as Herbert Dienelt , Dieter Schurr , Rolf Steeb , Helmut Fürther , Horst Haug and Pál Csernai and the Kickers took 7th place.

Garhofer experienced the best placings in the years 1967 to 1969, when the Kickers under coach Georg Wurzer were able to occupy 4th place. In the 1970/71 season he only made six appearances and ended his seven-year period with the Stuttgarter Kickers after a total of 94 games and scored 22 goals. Then the striker went back to the amateur camp and switched to TSV Schwieberdingen .
