from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Otto Holldack (born December 26, 1861 in Tapiau , † February 14, 1940 in Hamburg ; bourgeois Otto Wilhelm Friedrich Gustav Holdack ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Holldack originally wanted to become a teacher after passing the state examination. Since his employment was delayed and he had a beautiful tenor voice, he decided to take up the stage job if his voice would be liked by Bolko von Hochberg , then general director of the royal theater in Berlin. The exam was not only brilliant, the general manager even took care of his training.

Holldack received lessons from Kammersänger Benno Stolzenberg in Cologne and from Gustav Gunz in Frankfurt. After three years of training he made his debut on April 13, 1893 at the Stadttheater Mainz as "Florestan". He fulfilled all the hopes that were placed in him by far. He stayed in Mainz for four years and sang roles like "Turiddu", "Manrico", "Tannhäuser", "Max", "Faust", "Lohengrin", "Arnold" etc.

In 1897 he went to the royal court theater in Hanover. His further life is unknown.
