Otto Julius Quehl

Otto Julius Quehl (born July 23, 1857 in Schwedt / Oder ; † June 4, 1914 ) was a German doctor and writer .

Life

Otto Julius Quehl attended grammar school in Brandenburg and from 1869 in Königsberg / Neumark .

Work and reception

During his student days Quehl wrote his first work, Die Geschichte der Halloren . In 1892 the epic Sang von der Ruhr was published. In 1908 it was performed on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr . Four years later, the play Der Salzgraf von Halle was performed to mark the 500th anniversary of the city's founding. He continued to write poetry . Quehl was a member of the Mülheim casino society .

Quehl's literary works are counted as local poetry . His main work is the epic poem Sang von der Ruhr , which is considered "a song of praise to the beauty of the Ruhr valley and the city of Mülheim an der Ruhr ". The author and his work were soon forgotten.
