Otto Keimel

Otto Keimel (born February 16, 1928 in Innsbruck ; † March 16, 2014 there ) was an Austrian manager and politician ( ÖVP ).

After completing military service, the son of a police officer studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna, was also active as a musician and was part of the discussion group around Reinhard Kamitz . Keimel's professional career was diverse, including working as a hotel director and tourism specialist, often in industry. Keimel completed his doctorate as a working student at the University of Innsbruck. Keimel crowned his political career in the Tiroler Wirtschaftsbund with many years of work in the Austrian Parliament (from November 9, 1970 to November 6, 1994), where he last worked as building spokesman for the ÖVP. Keimel caused quite a stir when, although President of the Austrian Comradeship Association , he confessed that he had deserted in the last days of the Second World War . From 1970 to 1996 Keimel was a member of the Austrian National Council .

He died on March 16, 2014 after a long and serious illness in Innsbruck.
