Otto Kier (lawyer)

Otto Kier (born April 15, 1792 in Hadersleben , † March 23, 1863 there ) was a Schleswig-Holstein lawyer , civil servant and writer .

Life

After attending the school of scholars in Hadersleben, Otto Kier studied law from 1812 at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In 1815 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Heidelberg . In 1816 he passed the official examination in Schleswig and settled as a lawyer in Hadersleben. Later he became attorney at the court, notary and cashier of the common treasury of the 33 churches of the Hadersleben Propstei. In his last position he made a great contribution to the reform of the tithe system of the provost's office.

In 1841 Kier Hardesvoigt von Gramharde was in the Hadersleben office. From 1848 to 1850 he was mayor, police master and Stadtvoigt of Hadersleben. Since the mid-1820s he has been committed to making the Hadersleben Fjord navigable and has been co-director of a private stock corporation founded for this purpose for over 20 years.

Kier wrote numerous papers about the public situation in North Schleswig . He was married to Johanna Friederika Bruhn. The Prussian district administrator Otto Kier was her son.
