Otto Leeser (born January 7, 1888 in Dülmen ; † November 9, 1964 in High Wycombe ) was a German doctor and homeopath .

Live and act

Otto Leeser studied medicine and pharmacology at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . He passed his state examination in 1911 and was awarded a Dr. med. and in 1915 Dr. phil. PhD . He then worked first as a ship's doctor , then as an assistant in the Karlsruhe Eye Clinic , and later in the practice of his uncle Jakob Leeser in Bonn . In 1922 he settled in Frankfurt am Main as a homeopathic doctor. From 1929 to 1933 he was head of the women's department of the internal medicine department of the homeopathic auxiliary hospital in Stuttgart . During the time of National Socialism in 1933 he was excluded from both the German Central Association of Homeopathic Doctors and the editorial board of "Hippocrates" due to his Jewish descent . In 1934 Leeser had to emigrate to England via Holland .

In England, Otto Leeser, who took on British citizenship, could not practice as a doctor because he lacked the necessary license. He therefore founded a laboratory for the manufacture of homeopathic remedies in High Wycombe and taught homeopathy. Edwin DW Tomkins and John Pert were among his students.

In 1949 he returned to Germany to take over the medical management of the Robert Bosch Hospital . There he was released in 1955 after internal disputes and went back to England, where he died in 1964 at the age of 76.

Otto Leeser was considered a representative of the scientific-critical direction of homeopathy in Germany.
