Otto Marchi (born April 13, 1942 in Lucerne , Switzerland; † December 26, 2004 in Khao Lak , Thailand ) was a Swiss writer and journalist.

life and work

Marchi completed his studies with a doctorate in history and German. He worked as a journalist for Weltwoche and the Lucerne News . Since 1987 he has been teaching language and literature at the Lucerne School of Art and Design.

In 1971 Marchi made his debut with the Swiss story for heretics , in which he critically questioned the myth of Tell , as well as the publication of his revised dissertation on the Sonderbund war . This was followed by the novels Relapses (1978), Sehschule (1983) and Landolt's recipe (1989). His last novel much you want (1994) was as a supposed roman à clef controversial, as he put on a true love story between a priest known poet ( Joseph Vital Kopp based) and a married artist. He was working on a new novel when he fell victim to the tsunami in Thailand . At that time he was (also) living in Berlin .
