Otto Richard Kraetzschmar

Otto Richard Kraetzschmar (born August 10, 1867 in Leipzig , † July 8, 1902 in Marburg ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Otto Richard Kraetzschmar, whose father was a primary school teacher , spent his youth in Leipzig and then studied classical philology at the University of Leipzig . Since the summer of 1886 he was a member of the Leipzig University Choir of St. Pauli (now the German Choir ). He spent the following semester studying theology. At the same time he learned Semitic languages . In 1889 he received a doctorate in Assyrian language . Then, after completing his theology degree, he was a teacher at a secondary school in his hometown. Nevertheless, he proved to be more active in academic work and went to the University of Marburg , where he received his doctorate in theology in 1894. In the same year he worked there as a teacher of Old Testament theology . In spring 1901 Kraetzschmar also became an associate professor in Marburg. Shortly afterwards, on July 8th, 1902, he died in Marburg of a heart condition .
