The Otto Springorum was the third in a class of four ships. It was launched on November 8, 1958 at Rheinstahl Nordseewerke GmbH in Emden with construction number 325 and was baptized in the name of the German industrial manager Otto Springorum . The Otto Springorum drove mainly in the coal and iron ore freight business as a supplier to the German steel industry.

In 1970 Otto Springorum was sold to the Indian Dempo Steam Ship Ltd. sold and continued to operate as Jagat Swamini . In 1982 she was converted into a depot ship under the name Priyamvada in Bremerhaven. The ship was demolished in Alang on November 27, 2015 .

Sister ships of Otto Springorum were the Rheinstahl , Arenberg and Anita Thyssen .
