Otto Springorum
Otto Springorum (born November 8, 1890 in Laar , † April 8, 1955 in Venne ) was a German industrial manager.
Life
As the son of Friedrich Springorum , Otto Springorum studied at the Eberhard Karls University . On November 11, 1910, he was reciprocated in the Corps Rhenania Tübingen . As an inactive , he switched to the Clausthal mining academy . He took part in the First World War as a reserve officer, most recently as a lieutenant. In 1918 he married Ilse Bechstein from Berlin. The couple had two sons. After graduating as a mining assessor, he joined the Gelsenkirchen mining company as an unskilled worker . In 1923 he became operations director of the Germania colliery and the Zollern colliery . In 1929 he became the mine director of the Zeche Zollverein , which he expanded into the most modern mine . Member of the board of management since 1926, he succeeded Gustav Knepper as chairman of the board of Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG in 1942 . Springorum joined the NSDAP with a special permit in 1936 during the ban on membership. By his own admission he belonged to her until the end. Springorum was appointed military economic leader and was vice-president of the Gau Chamber of Commerce established in 1942. After the end of National Socialism , he was arrested and interned by the British military government as a burden of Nazism (1945-1947). In the denazification process, a decision was initially taken to remove him from his functions and he was classified in category VI of the “fellow travelers” (1947), two years later, like many people to be denazified, in category V of those deemed to be “exonerated”. In the process it was said that he was only a “nominal party member” and a “warm-hearted, simple man”. At the time of joining the party, he incorrectly stated "1937" in the questionnaire. As Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ruhr Mining Association (from 1952), he played a major role in the reconstruction of the Ruhr mining industry after the Second World War . His successor as CEO of Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG was Hans Dütting . Springorum was one of the great sponsors of the Folkwang Museum .
