Wilhelm Otto Nicolas Fritz George Stürken (born November 15, 1898 in Hamburg ; † August 12, 1979 in Schaan , Liechtenstein ) was a German businessman and banker . From 1929 to 1956 he was a board member of the Vereinsbank in Hamburg .

Life

From 1917 to 1918 Stürken participated in the First World War, as a lieutenant in the reserve of the 2nd Rhenish Hussar Regiment No. 9 . After his demobilization in 1919, he took up commercial training. In 1925 he became a co-owner of Willink & Co. (since 1926 Huth, Willink & Co. ). In 1929 Stürken and his co-partners brought their business to the Vereinsbank in Hamburg. He became a member of the board of directors of the Vereinsbank and played a key role in shaping the fortunes of the bank, which is important for Hamburg, over the next 27 years. In the course of his work, Stürken was a member of various supervisory boards . He was chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Levante Linie AG and the New York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie .

From 1956 until his death, Stürken lived in retirement in Schaan in Liechtenstein.

family

Stürken is a son of the Hamburg Police President Otto Stürken and the grandson of the Hamburg businessman Nicolas Stürken . He inherited the Hessepark in Hamburg-Blankenese from his mother Ellen Hesse, daughter of the Commerzienrat George Heinrich Hesse . In 1926 he sold the park to the municipality of Blankenese.
