Otto Stange

Otto Stange (born November 3, 1870 in Lübeck , † September 19, 1941 in Cologne ) was a German chemist and from 1923 to 1936 a member of the board of directors of the "Farbenfabriken vorm. Friedr. Bayer & Co. ” in Leverkusen .

Life

As a pupil he attended the Katharineum in Lübeck . After attending school he studied chemistry at the LMU in Munich until 1894, followed by a doctorate with Johannes Thiele . He entered on November 27, 1894 at the "paint factories vorm. Friedrich Bayer & Co ”, Elberfeld at the invitation of Carl Duisberg . He was initially an industrial chemist; in the field of intermediate products, he also worked in the field of rubber synthesis .

In 1912 he was granted power of attorney . In 1921 he was appointed deputy director and in 1923 a member of the board.

In 1918 he became deputy chairman of the recently founded employers' association of German chemistry . In 1923 he became head of the Alizarin department and was the predecessor of Kurt Hansen .

He was chairman of the “ Intermediate Product” commission of IG Farben , the so-called “Zetko”. Stange was head of the factory office committee and member of the commission for alizarin and vat colors .

In 1936 he resigned from the position of deputy board member of IG Farben.
