Otto Tobler

Otto Tobler (* 28. January 1879 in Trogen , † 6. August 1946 ibid ; heimatberechtigt in Lutzenberg , from 1910 in Herisau ) was a Swiss lawyer and pioneer of the natural and cultural heritage protection from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Otto Tobler was a son of Johann Jakob Tobler and Selina Rohner. In 1906 he married Emilie Schweizer, daughter of Arnold Schweizer, a teacher . He attended the St. Gallen Cantonal School . He then completed a study of the rights in Lausanne , Berlin and Bern . In 1905 he obtained a doctorate in law . From 1905 to 1906 he worked as a debt enforcement officer in Herisau. From 1906 to 1946 he was a clerk of the higher court . Tobler was a pioneer of Swiss nature and homeland protection. This was of great importance in Appenzell Ausserrhoden in the wake of the textile crisis. In 1910 he founded the cantonal section of the Swiss Association for Homeland Security . He presided over it until 1946 and was a member of the national central board. Tobler initiated the redesign of the Ausserrhoder costume in 1925 . In addition, he served as school president of Trogen for a long time. He was a member of the Zurich District Council of the Swiss People's Library and President of the extra-Rhodian branch of the Patria insurance company .
