Otto Wawrziniok

Otto Wawrziniok (born April 25, 1873 in Breslau ; † May 26, 1934 in Dresden ) was a German mechanical engineer and professor of automotive engineering at the TH Dresden .

After graduating from high school in Breslau and studying mechanical engineering in Berlin-Charlottenburg and Dresden, he became an assistant for machine design there from 1898 to 1902. In 1908 he completed his habilitation and worked from 1902 to 1918 at the Royal Saxon Mechanical and Technical Research Institute. In 1914 he was ao. Professor for materials testing and metallography , in 1918 full professor for automotive engineering and director of the institute for automotive engineering at the TH Dresden. From 1898 to 1919 he accompanied the establishment and development of the testing and material testing office in Dresden. In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .

He died by suicide, allegedly because of embezzlement, according to Victor Klemperer's diary entry of June 13, 1934, because rumor has it that his origin could not be proven purely "Aryan". His wife Hildegard was made an honorary senator of the TH Dresden because she was socially committed to the student union .
