Otto Wermelinger

Otto Wermelinger (born June 10, 1939 in Willisau ) is a Swiss church historian .

Life

After receiving his doctorate in 1973 as Dr. theol. at the Institut Catholique de Paris he became an adjunct professor in Freiburg im Üechtland in 1976 and a full professor at the University of Freiburg i. Üe. for patristicism, the history of the old church and the history of dogmas. Between 1991 and 1995 he was Vice Rector of the University. Otto Wermelinger retired in January 2009.

His main research interests are Latin patristics and church history. He was editor of the book series Paradosis .
