Gregor Wurst

Gregor Wurst (* 1964 in Münster ) is a German Catholic professor of church history at the University of Augsburg . His focus is on ancient church history and patrology .

Life

He completed his master's degree in Catholic theology , Coptic Studies , and Egyptology at the Universities of Münster, Freiburg im Üechtland and Geneva in 1989 . From 1990 to 2001 he was a research assistant at the patristic seminar at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) with Dirk Van Damme , Otto Wermelinger and Franz Mali . He was with the work in 1994 The Bêmafest the Egyptian Manichean at the Westphalian Wilhelms University with the title summa cum laude doctorate . He obtained his theological licentiate in 1998 with the work investigations into the life and work of Faustus von Mileve . His habilitation thesis The Homily De anima et corpore, a work by Meliton von Sardis? Introduction, synoptic edition, translation, commentary was accepted by the Catholic theological faculty of the University of Friborg (Switzerland) in 2000. Heisenberg scholarship holder of the DFG he was from 2001 to 2004. From 2003 to 2004 he represented the chair of Catholic theology with a focus on historical theology at the University of Siegen and from 2004 to 2006 the chair of church history, with special emphasis on ancient church history and patrology at the University of Augsburg. Since August 1, 2006, he has been full professor of church history, with special emphasis on ancient church history and patrology at the University of Augsburg. From 2007 to 2013 he was dean of the Catholic theological faculty at the University of Augsburg.
