Otto Wittmann (born August 13, 1921 in Straubing ; † February 3, 2006 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1969 to 1980 he was a member of the German Bundestag.

Life and work

After attending school, Wittmann first completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and then trained as a locomotive driver. In addition, he was involved in the labor movement and joined the railroad workers' union. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . He then worked as an operations inspector at the Deutsche Bundesbahn .

Wittmann joined the SPD in 1956 and was chairman of the SPD sub-district in Straubing. Wittmann was a council member of the city ​​of Straubing from 1960 to 1991 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the Bavarian state list. In the Bundestag, as a member of the Interior and Agriculture Committee, he was primarily concerned with water protection .
