Otto Wolters (pianist)
Otto Wolters (* 17th September 1938 in Oldenburg , † 7. April 2020 ) was a German jazz - pianist .
Life
Wolters took classical piano lessons from the age of six and got into jazz at the age of 15 when he heard Erroll Garner .
Since 1974 he has been a lecturer in jazz piano at the Hanover University of Music and in Braunschweig , and later at the Braunschweig City Music School .
He has also given classes at jazz clinics and jazz seminars, including in Burghausen, Osnabrück and Weikersheim. Wolters has played with many musicians, including Gunter Hampel , Carmell Jones , Attila Zoller , Toto Blanke , Leszek Zadlo and Albert Mangelsdorff . In 1980 he went on tour with the American tenor saxophonist Sonny Stitt , and in 1985 with the pianist Hans Christian Wille .
Wolters continued to play in the Otto Wolters Trio. He died in April 2020 at the age of 81.
