Otto von Solms

Otto von Solms (* in the 14th century; † 1359 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Otto von Solms came from the noble family of Solms and was the son of Count Heinrich zu Solms, called von Ottenstein († 1353), and his wife Sophia von Ahaus († 1358), daughter of Otto von Ahaus-Ottenstein . His brother Johann was in a dispute with the bishopric of Münster , which culminated in 1395 in the Münster siege of Ottenstein Castle, which he had married from his father, which lasted a year and finally led to the captivity of the Count of Solms and the loss of the castle. Otto's brother Heinrich was provost in Munster, Simon Munster canon. Lisa , his sister, was an abbess in Nottuln .

Act

Otto was the canon of Münster from 1352 and remained in this office until his death. He also had a canonical at the collegiate monastery in Oldenzaal . The sources do not provide any information about his further life.
