Simon of Solms

Simon von Solms (* in the 14th century; † 14 May 1384 ) was canon in Münster .

Life

Simon von Solms came from the noble family of Solms and was the son of Count Heinrich zu Solms, called von Ottenstein († 1353), and his wife Sophia von Ahaus († 1358), daughter of Otto von Ahaus-Ottenstein . His brother Johann was in a dispute with the bishopric of Münster , which culminated in 1395 in the Münster siege of Ottenstein Castle, which he had married from his father, which lasted a year and finally led to the captivity of the Count of Solms and the loss of the castle. His sister Lisa was abbess in Nottuln , his brother Heinrich Dompropst and Otto Canon in Münster. His uncle Simon of the same name was cathedral dean in Cologne . Simon was first mentioned in a document on October 16, 1340 as the cathedral canon of Münster. The sources do not provide any information about his further life.
