Otto zu Oettingen-Spielberg

Prince Otto Karl zu Oettingen-Oettingen and Oettingen-Spielberg (born January 14, 1815 in Oettingen , † April 29, 1882 in Munich ) was a German nobleman .

Life

Otto was the son of Prince Johann Alois III. Anton zu Oettingen-Spielberg (* 1788; † 1855) and Amalie Auguste von Wrede (* 1796; † 1871), daughter of the Bavarian Field Marshal Carl Philipp von Wrede . Otto zu Oettingen-Spielberg had three siblings and belonged to the Roman Catholic Church .

Otto studied law in Munich. In 1839 he became embassy attaché in Vienna and, from 1855, royal Bavarian Kronobrist chamberlain and crown chief steward. In 1871 he was on a special mission to negotiate with the Vatican in Rome .

He succeeded in successfully improving and expanding his princely entails .

In 1870 Otto zu Oettingen-Spielberg was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown and in 1874 with the Grand Cross of the Order of Frederick .

From 1843 to 1882 Otto had a seat in the Chamber of the Imperial Councils of Bavaria .

From 1841 to 1874 Otto was also a member of the Württemberg Chamber of Notaries . Otto's vote was inactive from 1862 to 1864 because the government questioned the status of the landed property in Württemberg (Dambach manor in the Oberamt Ellwangen). Since no final decision was made, Otto was again a member of the Chamber of Notaries from 1864. His membership ended in 1874 with the law on the abolition of the feudal association and the expiry of the princely feudal sovereignty over the Dambach manor. From 1871 he was represented by his son Franz Albrecht zu Oettingen-Spielberg .

Otto zu Oettingen-Spielberg married in Prusskau (Bohemia) on November 6, 1843, Georgine Clementine Countess of Königsegg-Aulendorf (born April 1, 1825 in Prusskau; † June 7, 1877 in Graz). The marriage had four children:

  • Klementine Marie (born September 23, 1844 in Oettingen; † March 6, 1894 in Hohenems), married in Munich on February 22, 1870, Count Klemens von Waldburg zu Zeil and Trauchburg (* October 21, 1842 in Mattsies; † August 13, 1904 in Hohenems)
  • Camilla Amalie Caroline Notgere (born September 20, 1845 in Oettingen; † November 11, 1888 in Vienna), married Ernst Prinz zu Windisch-Grätz in Munich on May 17, 1870 (born September 27, 1827 in Winteritz; † November 22, 1918 in Vienna)
  • Franz Albrecht Johann Aloys Notger , Prince of Oettingen-Oettingen and Oettingen-Spielberg since 1882 (born June 21, 1847 in Oettingen; † January 14, 1916 in Munich), married Princess Sophie von Metternich-Winneburg in Vienna on April 24, 1878 ( * May 17, 1857 in Dresden; † January 11, 1941 in Vienna)
  • Emil Franz Notger , Prince of Oettingen-Oettingen and Oettingen-Spielberg since 1916 (born May 31, 1850 in Munich; † May 27, 1919), married Countess Bertha Esterházy von Galántha in Vienna on April 29, 1878 (born September 26, 1857 in Csákvár; † November 20, 1937 in Munich)
