Ottohan's Beier
Ottohans Beier (born October 9, 1892 in Karlsruhe , † February 2, 1979 in Munich ) was a German painter , draftsman , graphic artist and bookplate artist who worked mainly in Munich.
Life
In 1913/14 Beier studied at the arts and crafts school in Karlsruhe and did military service from 1914 to 1918. In English captivity, he published the camp newspaper “Piepmatz”. Beier lived in Munich from 1919. 1933–1958 he was a graphic teacher at the Bavarian State College for Photography . In the printmaking work mainly in the techniques of lithography and etching . In 1946 he was one of the new founding members of the Association for Original Etching .
Beier's factual historicizing genre pictures also met with approval during the Nazi dictatorship . He participated in the Great German Art Exhibitions 1937–1941 and in the exhibition " Young Art in the German Empire " in the Vienna Künstlerhaus in 1943.
