Ottomar von Volkmer

Ottomar (Othmar) von Volkmer (born May 7, 1839 in Olomouc , † January 20, 1901 in Vienna ) was an Austrian chemist, physicist and printing specialist.

Volkmer was president of the Photographische Gesellschaft in Vienna from 1885 until his death and vice-president of the Elektro-Verein. From 1885 he was deputy director of the kk Hof- und Staatsdruckerei , its director from 1892 until his unexpected death. He switched the operation from steam to electric drive and administratively separated the publishing house from wear and tear. After his death, Volkmer was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery .

In 1956 the Volkmargasse (sic!) In Vienna- Favoriten was named after him.
