The Oued Charef (later called Oued Za ) is an approximately 250 km long river in the east of the North African state of Morocco that only flows in sections after heavy or prolonged rainfall .

The Oued Charef rises in the eastern foothills of the High Atlas ; it mostly flows north and passes the city of Ain Beni Mathar . In the following it is called Oued Za ; it turns to the west or northwest, passes the town of El Aïoun Sidi Mellouk and finally flows into the Moulouya at the small town of Melg el Ouidane .
