Oulun Luistinseura (abbreviated to OLS ) is a sports club from the northern Finnish coastal city of Oulu . The club has departments in football , bandy , bowling and floorball .

history

The club was founded in 1880 under the Swedish name Skridskoklubben i Uleåborg (Oulu Ice Skating Club ). After the game was stopped in 1895, the club was re-established in 1908 under the current Finnish name. In addition to Bandy, football was also played in the club from 1941, and bowled from 1957. The floorball department was launched in 1998.

Bandy

With 16 Finnish championship titles, OLS is the second most successful bandy club in Finland after Helsingfors IFK (17 titles) and together with Warkauden Pallo -35 (also 16 titles). The club won the championships in 1970, then between 1975 and 1977 three times in a row, 1979, 1982 to 1984 again three times in a row, 1986, 1990, 1991, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2014. In addition, OLS has been winning since 1962 twelve runner-up championships.

In 1976, OLS was the only club not yet from Sweden or Russia to win the Bandy World Cup , the annual World Cup for club teams in Bandy. In the final against Västerås SK from Sweden, Oulu won 3-2.

The team plays its home games in the urban Pakkalan kenttä in the Ouluer district of Raksila.

The department was founded in 1998.

Both the men's and women's teams played first-class in the 2013/14 season.

Soccer

The OLS football division was founded in 1941 by the club's bandy players. The club never played first class on its own. In autumn 1991 the footballers formed together with the football department of Oulu Työväen Palloilijat the FC Oulu , the 1992 and 1994 played in the highest Finnish league and both seasons each finished in last place and relegation. After the 1994 season, the bankrupt club dissolved again.

The club played second class in 1978, 1991, 2003, 2005.
