Ergazi ( Greek Όβγορος Ovgoros ) is a village on the Karpas peninsula in the north of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and is located in the İskele district of the unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or de jure in the Famagusta district . The place had 202 inhabitants in 2011.

Ergazi is located on the Karpas peninsula, five kilometers southeast of Kantara and northeast of Trikomo / İskele .
history
In the time of the Ottoman rule (1570 / 71–1878), censuses were carried out for the purpose of tax collection, such as in 1831. 16 Turkish heads of household were counted in Ergazi. In 1891 the British colonial authorities had 264 inhabitants, of whom 261 were Turkish and three were Greeks. In 1901 there were 318 Turks. In 1931 there were 379 Turks and seven Greeks, in 1946 only Cypriot Turks lived in the village, namely 431, in 1960 there were 362. In the 1978 census, there were 254 Cypriot Turks.
Ergazi, which was already inhabited exclusively by Cypriot Turks before the end of World War II , took in refugees from other villages between 1964 and 1974, during the time of the Turkish administration of Cyprus , and therefore as part of the Turkish enclave of Mehmetçik. These came from Bahçeler / Perivolia and Boğaztepe / Monarga .
Since then, the younger people in the village have been migrating to the larger towns and abroad, so that the population is shrinking. In 2006 there were 207 residents, in 2011 there were 202.
