Ovidiu Cornel Hanganu (born May 12, 1970 in Ghelari , Hunedoara County ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 229 games in the Romanian Divizia A , the Belgian Eerste Class and the Turkish Süper Lig .
Career
Ovidiu Hanganu began his career at his hometown club Corvinul Hunedoara , where he moved up to the first team in 1986 at the age of 16. On October 12, 1986 he gave his debut there against Jiul Petroșani . It would remain his only player in the 1986/87 season . Only in the following season he came to more missions.
In 1989, Hanganu got the opportunity to join a top Romanian team and joined Victoria Bucharest . After the Romanian Revolution of 1989 , Victoria was dissolved by the new government, so Hanganu returned to Corvinul during the 1989/90 winter break. There he achieved the greatest success of his career in the 1990/91 season , when he won the Romanian top scorer's crown with 24 goals.
After Corvinul was relegated from Divizia A in the following season, Hanganu moved again to a Romanian top club, the reigning champions Dinamo Bucharest . The title was not defended and Hanganu was given the opportunity to move abroad, where he signed a contract with the Belgian first division club Cercle Bruges . During the winter break of 1993/94, however, he moved to Samsunspor in Turkey for a transfer fee of 350,000 dollars , but was hardly ever used there and returned to Cercle Bruges for the 1994/95 season.
Since the time in Belgium was unsatisfactory, Hunganu moved back to Romania in January 1995 and joined FC Național Bucharest , where he won the runner- up in 1996 , but could not build on previous performances. After another year at Corvinul Hunedoara, Hunganu ended his career in 1997. In the 2001/02 season he completed a few more games for Minerul Certej , who played in Divizia C at the time . He then settled in Italy , where he earned his living as a construction worker . He is now separated from his wife, with whom he has a daughter.
