Pedagogical Academy Frankfurt (Oder)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pedagogical Academy Frankfurt (Oder) was an institution of Prussian teacher training in Frankfurt (Oder) under the director Otto Haase from 1930 to 1932.

Important professors were Gerhard Bohne (religious educator) , Hermann Mitgau (civics), and Hans Bohnenkamp (education and philosophy).

After a short closure for reasons of economy, the Nazi state operated a college for teacher training under Albrecht Burchard and then Oswald Muris from 1934 until the war-related shutdown in 1939 , who watched over a system-faithful orientation. The official dissolution of all HfL took place in 1941.

Building of the Gauß-Gymnasium

The building, which was built in the Bauhaus style from 1930 to 1934 based on designs by Adolf Petersen , is now located at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 52 and is used by the Gauß-Gymnasium . It was originally built for the educational reform academy , but then used by the HfL. In the GDR it was also used as an institute for teacher training . In 1974 the interior of the building was redesigned according to plans by Dietrich Kloppstech and housed the district and district leadership of the SED until the fall of the Berlin Wall .
