Albrecht Burchard

Albrecht Burchard (born June 28, 1888 in Ohrsleben , † December 28, 1939 in Jena ) was a university professor in Jena and Münster , at the Pedagogical Academy in Dortmund and as head of the Frankfurt (Oder) teacher training college .

Life

The teacher's son attended a teachers' seminar . From 1908 he taught as a primary school teacher . From 1913 he studied mathematics, physics and geography in Jena. From 1914 to 1918 he did military service, most recently as a reserve lieutenant and battery leader. In 1921 he received his doctorate in Jena, where he qualified as a professor there in 1923 in geography. In 1929 he was appointed professor at the newly founded Pedagogical Academy in Dortmund. At the same time, he gave lectures at the University of Münster, where he received an extraordinary professorship. He was involved in the board of the Association of German School Geographers and was co-editor of the Geographisches Anzeiger . Since June 1934 he was a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . In 1934 he was transferred as head of the college for teacher training in Frankfurt (Oder) . In 1938 he was appointed to a chair in Jena, but soon died of kidney failure.

Political activity

Burchard had been a member of the NSDAP and the NS-teachers' association (NSLB) since 1932 . In 1933 he also joined the SA . In 1934 he was appointed Reich clerk for geography in the NSLB. Since 1935 he was the Lecturer Association of the National Socialist German Lecturer Association (NSDDB) at the College for Teacher Training in Frankfurt / Oder. From 1935 to 1938 Burchard was Gaudozentenbundführer in Gau Kurmark .
