Henning Heske

Henning Heske (* 20th March 1960 in Dusseldorf ) is a German poet , essayist and children's books author .

life and work

Heske studied mathematics, geography and German at the University of Düsseldorf . There he was in 1988 with a thesis on the geography lesson in National Socialism Dr. phil. PhD. He has published books for children and young people, essays and several volumes of poetry, of which, from a conceptual point of view, especially event horizons (2003) and path integrals (2006) are to be emphasized. His poems can be classified as postmodern . Thematically, with intertextual references and the use of technical language, they repeatedly approach the border area between nature and culture, the break zones between science and art. Some of his poems have been translated into Albanian.

As chairman of the Lower Rhine District Group in the Association of German Writers , he initiated the award of the Lower Rhine Literature Prize in 1992 . For several years he wrote articles for the Frankfurt anthology edited by Marcel Reich-Ranicki . In 2006 he published a collection of essays on poetry and science under the title Faust's Phiole, and in 2008 new editions of his books for children and young people. In 2009 the football book In der Arena was published , followed by two more volumes from the series “Leben mit Fortuna Düsseldorf”. Heske also published numerous scientific articles.

The author lives in Krefeld , where he has been moderating the series “1 poem and more” in the Niederrheinisches Literaturhaus since 2013. He is also active as a literary critic. Since 2015 he has been a member of the jury of the Niederrheinisches Literaturpreis again. Heske is married and has two daughters.
