Poule round

After the preliminary round, a poule round is played, in which four teams compete in four poules to advance to the quarter-finals. In each pool there are two group first and two group second from the preliminary round. First, a group winner meets a group runner-up. The two winners des Poules qualify for the quarter-finals, the EM is over for the two losers. This round is played on Saturday. It starts at 1.30 p.m.

The German team initially faced Italy in Poule J. Despite a 9-5 lead, they finally had to admit defeat 9:13. In the subsequent losers game, Estonia was fought down at 13:10. In the Barrage, a 13: 4 over Switzerland managed to take revenge for the knockout round at the World Cup a year earlier. France lost just one point in their two poule games and became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals. The co-favorites Italy and Spain as well as the strong Monegasque made it through directly. In the barrage the team Sweden 1, England and Belgium completed the final round to great cheers. For the Dutch, who performed so confidently the day before, the end came early after two defeats against Portugal and Belgium. The third of the last European Championships, Denmark, also had to pack their bags in the Poule round.

Nations Cup

The Nations Cup was played between the 20 teams that had not reached the poule round after the preliminary round. Initially, 3 rounds of the Swiss system were played. The first 8 after these three rounds qualified for the knockout round. In addition, the remaining 9 starting places for the 2012 World Cup were played out. The eight quarter-finalists and the 9th of the preliminary round are qualified for the World Cup.

Preliminary round

At the top of the final table was the host's second team. Since Sweden 1 had already reached the poule round (and later the quarter-finals) and was thus qualified for the World Cup, the team moved into 10th place (San Marino) in the World Cup starting places.

A very weak EM of the teams from Luxembourg and Turkey turned into a debacle with the missed World Cup ticket as well as for the Austrian team.

Final round

The eight remaining shooters determine the new European champion in the knockout system. The first of the preliminary round shoots against the fourth of the repechage, the second of the preliminary round against the third of the repechage, etc. The final round was completed on Saturday evening. The award ceremony followed immediately after the finals.

In the quarter-finals, Estonian Veiko Proos and Russian Evgeny Osokin had a tough fight. Only in the jump-off (1 shot from 7 meters on each picture) did Proos finally win 8: 5. The world record holder Dylan Rocher also had to fight for a long time against the Dane Emil Petersen. A hit on the Cochonnet from 9 meters secured him the semi-finals. The shooters Wietse van Keulen (Netherlands) and Hugo Dores (Portugal), who were eliminated in the same pool in the afternoon, completed the last four.

In the semi-finals Rocher won against Proos, but missed a new tournament high score. The second semi-final did not have the same class as the first, but the Portuguese was more confident and made it through to the final with ease.

In the final Rocher showed his class and with 61 points not only achieved the best performance of the tournament, but also a European record
