Pól Brennan ( Irish Pól Ó Braonáin , born April 22, 1956 in Gweedore , Ireland ) is an Irish singer , music producer and songwriter . He is a member of the band Clannad and a brother of Enya , Moya Brennan and Ciaran Brennan.

Life

Brennan and his siblings performed at their father Leo's pub early on. Together with uncles Noel and Padraig Duggan, he founded the band Clannad , whose first album was released in 1973. In the group he played guitar, flute and bongos. Together with his brother Ciarán he was responsible for a large part of the band's compositions, the single Theme from Harry's Game , which he co-composed , reached number 5 on the British music charts in 1982 . In 1989, he split from the band in favor of a solo career. Together with the Japanese musician Joji Hirota and the Chinese Guo Yue, he released an album of the same name in 1992 under the name Trísan . In 1993 a tour of the USA followed .

Brennan composed music for various feature films . Among other things, he wrote the soundtrack To Alone Against Crime and Kings . For the latter, he won the IFTA award in 2008 .

During the performances and tours of Clannad from 2007 onwards he was a member of the group again many times.
