The Põltsamaa is a 135 km long river in Estonia and part of the Narva river system .
It rises in the municipality of Tamsalu , flows in a general south-westerly direction, then crosses the city of Põltsamaa , which is named after it , and finally flows into the Pedja northeast of the Wirzsee .
