Păltiniș (German: Hohe Rinne ) is a Romanian climatic health resort and winter sports resort in the Carpathian Mountains ( Zibins Mountains ), southwest of Sibiu . It lies at an average altitude of 1440 m, the highest point is 1681 m.
The place was founded around 1894 by the Transylvanian Carpathian Association. The tourist house , the medical center and the Monaco hall , which are now under monument protection, still exist from this time .
The Romanian philosopher and writer Constantin Noica spent his last years in a monastery there and founded the "School of Păltiniș". He is buried there next to the church (Schitul Păltiniș).
