p -Cumaric acid ( 4-hydroxycinnamic acid ) is an organic compound from the group of hydroxycinnamic acids .
Natural occurrence
P -Cumaric acid is very widespread in the plant kingdom. B. in the bark of the late blooming bird cherry ( Prunus serotina ) as well as in meadow clover ( Trifolium pratense ) and Daviesia latifolia .
When exposed to light, dihydroxytruxilic acid is formed .
Applications
p -Cumaric acid is used in a protein detection by Western blot with chemiluminescence as a reaction enhancer (English sensitiser ).
