PAK 2 is an enzyme that is encoded by the PAK2 gene and belongs to the serine / threonine protein kinases . It plays an important role in various signal transduction pathways , including regulation of the cytoskeleton , cell motility , control of the cell cycle , apoptosis and cell proliferation . The enzyme is activated by the binding of active CDC42 and RAC1 , resulting in a change in the conformation of the protein and subsequent auto- phosphorylation of serine and / or threonine - amino acids has the protein result.
The p21-activated kinase 2 belongs to the family of p21-activated kinases , which can be divided into two subfamilies: The first group consists of the enzymes PAK1 , PAK2 and PAK3 , all of which are characterized by the fact that they bind to activated CDC42 and RAC1 are activated, while the second group around PAK4 , PAK6 and PAK5 is independent of CDC42 and RAC1.
